Saint Paul Police Budget Hearing

On September 15th, 2019 Ronald Davis died in an encounter with a St. Paul Police Officer near Thomas & Griggs. Enough is enough! The BCA is leading the investigation. We need transparency now. We need community peace now! The community want their dollars spent on bettering police relations for a safer neighborhood. Our dollars must be working for us not against us! We can no longer afford to not be safe. We want our dollars spent wisely!

This year alone, families have experienced one TOO MANY shootings. St. Paul Police Chief Todd Axtels’ plan of action to decrease gun violence: hire more police officers, add ShotSpotters equipment, transfer $70k for mental health community initiatives to the Fire Department. None of this prevents the shootings in our community or police accountability.

Our city doesn’t lack police, we lack hope, healthy relationships, access to well paying jobs, and services that help transition families out of poverty. We need dollars going towards a public safety department with sustainable solutions. We must show up and be a voice of truth for the lives who are no longer with us due to gun violence.

Violence anywhere is a threat to non-violence everywhere.
